In 2006, I was invited to a cousin's wedding. I wanted to give a unique gift, so I thought I would bring my camera, take some photos, and put an album together for them. When I started getting compliments that my photos turned out better then the professional photographer they had hired, I started to realize I may have an "eye" for photography. I purchased a new camera, and offered to do a few weddings at a deeply discounted rate to build up my portfolio. All of the couples I had were very happy with their pictures, and recommended me to their friends and family. Soon after I was booking weddings quite regularly. I created a website and began to actively pursue my part time passion of photography. I knew I wasn't going to make a living off of my photography, I work full time during the week in the field of Science. So I decided to just charge enough to cover the contents of the packages, travel, and time. That is why I am considered one of the most budget friendly photographers in Florida. To me...this isn't a job...but a passion and a wonderful hobby. I love being able to capture moments that people will cherish for a lifetime. That is what drives me to continue building my portfolio and pursuing my love for photography. Below are some of my favorite shots over the years. =)
I photographed Steve & Melissa's wedding in early 2011, and was very excited to hear they were expecting their first bundle of joy later on that year. I had Melissa's maternity shoot scheduled for late May. However, the weekend before her photo shoot her son decided to make his appearance, 6 weeks early. He was in NICU for a few weeks until he reached a little under 5lbs and could eat on his own. Luckily, I was able to photograph him the week he was released from the hospital. He was so tiny and sweet. Being my first newborn photography shoot (other then my own daughter and my newphews)..I have to say I found it not to be as hectic as people claim it to be. It just takes lots of patience and soft hands. =) Welcome to this world baby Julius!
Before having my daughter, I thought wedding photography was my calling. I loved capturing one of the most important days in a person's life. And then..I had my daughter Olivia. I realized that capturing the first few weeks of a precious babies life is one of the most wonderful, special, and joyous things I could ever do. I started to get a prop closet ready for newborn photography, hired my grandma to crochet cute newborn hats, and gave away free newborn portrait sessions to build up my portfolio. I am currently working on my portfolio..I have at least 5 newborns scheduled a week or two after they are born. I am so excited for this next chapter of fulfilling my passion of photography. =)
